A Flood, but in July?

Well, today was supposed to be fun... we were supposed to sleep in, take in some of the great weather, celebrate Laetitia's grandma's 80th birthday, and maybe go dancing tonight.
The day is not over, but it certainly has not started out as expected, since the washing machine decided to flood and put a couple of inches of water on the floor of our apartment, not to mention cause a little "rain" for our neighbors on the 1st and 2nd floors.
So, I cleared a radius around the affected areas, and mopped up the pool of water in the bathroom, since I didn't know what else to do with myself until the crew arrived. Laetitia was on her way back from shopping, so when she made it back, we sopped up some water from the carpet with towels until the experts arrived.
When they finally arrived, they used their big hoses and started tearing things up. It seems we have to leave these huge fans going for a couple of days before they come back and replace the carpet padding that had to be removed.
Anyway, looks like this event isn't quite over, but I thought I'd make a blog entry since half my apartment is humming with fans and I didn't know what else to do here until I needed to start getting ready for the birthday party...
FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

Work Should Be Fun, Right?

A couple of co-workers had some fun coming up with some "rules" for the new people. All the rules they came up with were based in truth, which is the scary part. After they sent the rules around in an email, I thought it was only natural to come up with international symbols for most of the scenarios.

SeƱor-itus, I Guess

I've been so sleepy lately. I'm not the napping type, but when I get home I just want to crash, but there are so many things to do, and then we have to keep practicing our dancing. When we get home after practice, we end up watching the TV shows that I recorded while we were out, while we're catching up on other household things.
Mary was on the news last night, from the call I made to FOX 6 about her being on "So You Think You Can Dance." The episode was pretty good last night, since there were some interesting dancers as well as a few partner dance teams. They also showed Mary quite a bit in the end of the episode, which was fun because she came over to watch it at our place since her DVR didn't record it.
Anyway, maybe we can take it easier tonight, but tomorrow we'll have our practice and lessons either way. crazy

Laetitia is Back - Time to Dance

Laetitia made it back last night, so we can return to our "normal" lives. She brought me back a White House hand towel "hopefully it was never used by Clinton LOL ". Our pictures from the Desert Classic came in the mail, too, so I updated our Recent Dancing gallery. So, we'll get to resume our practice schedule tonight and take a lesson tomorrow... YAY!

Bye Bye Yeppers

Our roomie, Kristin Staszek, is leaving us this month after living in our place for one year. It's been fun, but at any rate, I saw her more at work than I saw her at home, since she has a pretty active nightlife. I guess we'll turn her room into a walk-in closet. Anyway, bye bye Yeppers!

Leaving, on a Jet Plane

So Laetitia has been sent to Virginia by her new employer, BAE Systems. They wasted no time in putting her to work. Luckily, this seems to be a formality as they are doing a project hand-off, and then she'll be back here so we can get back to practicing our dancing. We had a really good practice today, and followed it by catching up with an old town buddy of mine, Rudy Davalos, and we got to meet his girlfriend Betty. It was a really quick visit, since they were on their way back to L.A. Then we got to have some BBQ at Mary's where about 12 or so guests gathered for good company and a film screening. I guess I better think of some ways to stay out of trouble while Laetitia is away :?

Desert Dance Vacation

This was Laetitia's last weekend before starting work at BAE, so what better way to have our last bit of fun than going to a competition and then hanging out by the pool at a Desert resort? I'll have pictures up in a day or so, but for now you'll have to settle for the video clips of our dance event (this was our last competition before the national championships).

Summer Heat, Summer Fun

We went to Mary's for the 4th, and did some swimming and BBQ. It was nice to be out in the sun more than an hour, especially since I'm inside behind a desk most of the time. Later on in the week, we went to LA to do some more fabric shopping for Laetitia's next dress. She's barely finishing the one she'll be wearing tomorrow night and it's already onto the dress for Nationals.
We're leaving tomorrow morning for Palm Springs to dance the Desert Classic. We ended up having to rent a car because her car needed new struts and had some nails in the back tires and won't be ready in time, and no way can Sr. Bolero stand that kind of heat. It should be less than 40 bucks for a weekend rental.
Anyway, hopefully I'll have some good news to report when we get back.
