Dance Anniversary

So, this February marks 9-years of Laetitia and I competing together. Our first competition was the USABDA Glendale Southern California Championships. It was only my 2nd competition, and we entered the Championship American Rhythm and Smooth events, since all of our friends, which I was mentoring at the time, were doing the lower levels, and it seemed like we all should enter events based on our ranking against each other... BIG MISTAKE.

None of our friends placed in the lower levels, and Laetitia and I got SLAMMED in the championships. We had no idea what open level competition was. This was one of the major decision points in our dancing, and we took this stumble and learned from the mistake and got serious about practicing and starting at the bottom so we could earn our place at the top.

So, this week, as kind of a way of commemorating our first competition, we're judging and doing a show at CalPoly San Luis Obispo's first competition. I'll hopefully have pictures/video to post shortly after. I'll also get a chance to say HI to my family since they're up near that way.
