Hung 2 HDTVs in 2 weeks

So we got a new TV for the living room, and the TV rotation took place: New TV in living room, old TV in bedroom, old bedroom TV in guest room. So, while we're at it, why not hang the TVs on the walls in our bedroom and living room?

So, here's what we did, so others may learn from our journey.

Buy parts from monoprice.com! It was by far the best deal and also allowed for a clean install. Here's the rough parts list for each room:

• Wall Mount Bracket, Slim and Tilting, only $17.00 each (link)
• HDMI Cables, 10 feet, white with gold tips, only $8.00 each (link)
• Power Plates and Wire Holes, $48.00 each male/female each set (link)
• Also purchased various other cables (optical, component, DVI...)
• Other important tools were a studfinder and a fiberglass rod to run wire.

It's important to note that the power plate solution involved running romex from a floor plate to the top plate. This is the safe solution, rather than just dropping the TV's power cord through the wall, which is NOT SAFE.

We completed the bedroom install a week ago (picture), and the living room this last Friday. Each install took about 4 hours - the TV mounts went up fast, but getting all the wires in order and then hanging the TVs and connecting the wires was tricky. We're really happy with the results and again, cannot believe the amount of money saved in using monoprice, since Costco and Frys were not even close.
