From San Diego to Venice

Porfirio and Laetitia in VeniceSo, we made it... our travels took us from San Diego, through Dallas and Paris, to finally Venice! We were met by a representative of the dance festival who guided us to our water taxi, and we were off to the hotel on Lido. It was quite strange to be taking a boat to a hotel. Once we got settled in, we took the hotel's shuttle-water taxi to Piazza San Marco. We poked around a bit, got some dinner, and took the shuttle back to the hotel to catch up on some rest...

The next day was a full free day to enjoy the sites, so we went back to Piazza San Marco for some brunch, which was accompanied by an orchestra and lovely weather, but OUCH, the Euro to Dollar exchange rate hurts!!! We took in a few museums and sites, including the Basilica... lots of pictures will be posted to document this.

On friday, it was the day of the dance event, so after a morning practice, we found our way around Lido a bit more, and enjoyed gelato, pizzas, and pastries here and there. We still made one last run to San Marco, but I think it was one trip too many. The piazza was much more crowded and it was becoming harder to find places cheap enough to eat, but we survived. Back on Lido, we got ready for our event, and finally, some time after 10pm, we danced and shortly after, picked up our award :-)

It was much too late to eat so we snacked on "Cric-Croc Tortillas", aka Fritos, packed, and then crashed out...

Saturday morning, we got up early so we could find a better way to get back to the airport... a private taxi would have been between 80-100 euros. Instead, we pulled off taking a land taxi to Lido's port, and took a public water-bus to the airport for MUCH cheaper. Lyon, here we come!!!!
